Parametric risk transfer, starting with sustainability-linked debt

 

Merope is a transatlantic advisory company. We originate and verify parametric risk transfer structures, beginning with the cost of missed sustainability targets on bonds and loans.

 

Sustainability-linked bonds and loans carry a margin step-up if a borrower misses a sustainability target. Our work is to help bring that risk to investors who are equipped to hold it, through a note issued by a special purpose vehicle and an optional put.

 

What Merope is not: we are not a lender, we do not issue loan notes, and we do not take money from investors. Any regulated activity, such as arranging or placing, would be carried out by authorised partner firms under their own regulation.

 

This work is in development and has not yet launched.
